PHOENIX-- Multiple sources have confirmed that the Arizona Diamondbacks have put SP Ian Kennedy and OF Jason Kubel on the trade block.
The fact that the Dbacks are trying to get rid of Ian Kennedy doesn't come as a surprise. The former 20-game-winner has failed to get back into all-star form after his spectacular 2011 season. Kennedy currently holds a 3-7 record with a 5.22 ERA this season.
Kubel's career with the Dbacks has been unflattering. His .234 batting average and 64 strike outs this year are underwhelming to say the least.
Sources have also confirmed that the Dbacks are mainly looking to trade Kubel and Kennedy in order to free cap space to acquire Chicago White Sox pitcher Jake Peavy. GM Kevin Towers has a past history with Peavy, as Peavy was the starting pitcher in San Diego when Towers was the GM there. Peavy currently holds an 8-4 record with a 4.28 ERA.
Personally, I would love to see Peavy in a Dbacks uniform, but I'm don't think Kennedy and Kubel will spark any real offers.
